Erenhot, China's largest land port bordering with Mongolia, has introduced the round-the-clock cargo customs clearance, marking the first port of offering this service, state media reported.

The port will keep offering the nonstop customs clearance until September 30, aiming to enhance efficiency of cargo transportation. It has significantly reduced trucks drivers' waiting time for coal clearance during peak hours.

To streamline customs procedures, Erenhot port, which is located in northern China's Inner Mongolia, has implemented measures such as customs clearance booking for commodity vehicles, a green channel for agricultural produce from China and Mongolia, and vehicle inspection informatization.

The port, handling over 70% of the daily necessities transported by trucks, is also working towards smart border inspection to further improve intelligent customs clearance.

Iron ore and coal constitute the primary imports through Erenhot port, while exports primarily include general merchandise, household appliances, and auto parts.

In the first quarter of this year, Erenhot handled 460,000 cases of cargo customs clearance, nearly doubling  the year-ago level, while the number of vehicles transporting through the port in both directions increased by 2.5 times year on year to 119,000.
