Shaanxi province in northwest China produced 177.73 million tonnes of raw coal in the first three months of this year, maintaining the same level as the corresponding period in 2023, according to data from Shaanxi Coal Industry Association.
The province sold 159.90 million tonnes of coal in the first quarter, down 2.77% from a year ago. Its coal stocks reached 2.06 million tonnes by the end of March.
By end-March, average coal sales price in Shaanxi dropped 92 yuan/t from February to 663 yuan/t, tumbling 201 yuan/t or 23.26% from the previous year.
The average prices of all the 14 typical coal varieties dropped in the province, respectively down 82 yuan/t or 10.76% month on month and plunging 219 yuan/t or 24.35% year on year.
