China Coal Energy Co., Ltd, the listed arm of China National Coal Group, produced 10.83 million tonnes of commercial coal in March, down 7.5% from a year ago, said the company in a statement released on April 16.
The March output, however, rose 3.9% from February, according to the statement. This was mainly attributed to production resumption after the week-long holiday breaks for the Spring Festival in February.
The company's commercial coal sales decreased 16.9% year on year yet increased 31.1% month on month to 23.97 million tonnes in March.
Sales of self-produced coal declined 3.7% from a year earlier to 11.06 million tonnes in the month, up 12.7% from the preceding month.
Over the first three months this year, the company churned out 32.73 million tonnes of commercial coal, down 1.7% on the year. Total sales fell by 14.6% to 63.87 million tonnes, with self-produced sales ticking down 0.8% to 32.57 million tonnes.
