China imported 41.38 million tonnes of coal in March, ticking up 0.52% from 41.17 million tonnes a year ago, showed data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) on April 12.
The volume was also 22.60% higher than 33.75 million tonnes in February.
Value of the imports amounted to $4.09 billion in the same month, falling 22.19% year on year yet rising 16.29% month on month. The average import price was calculated at $99.07/t, down $28.92/t year on year and $5.38/t from a month ago.
China's coal imports totaled 115.89 million tonnes over the first three months this year, 13.9% higher than the year-ago level, with the value down 11.8% on the year to $12.04 billion, data showed.
