Central China's Hubei province consumed 20.44 TWh of electricity in February, rising 1.29% year on year, according to data from the local development and reform commission.
The primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector, consumed 210 GWh of electricity, falling 5.78% from the year-ago level; the secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, used 9.86 TWh, down 14.85% on the year; the tertiary industries, mainly the service sector, used 4.40 TWh, up 6.02% from the previous year.
The residential power consumption was 5.97 TWh in the same month, increasing 41.16% from the previous year, data showed.
The province's power generation was 18.91 TWh (excluding the volume contributed by Three Gorges) in February, a 0.55% uptick on the year.
Hydropower plants generated 3.92 TWh of electricity (excluding the Three Gorges) in February, surging 103.55% from a year ago. Thermal power generation was 12.32 TWh, a year-on-year drop of 16.64%; wind power was 1.33 TWh, rising 5.98% from the previous year; solar energy generated 1.34 TWh, soaring 58.71%.
